Blood Volume Alterations in Congestive Heart
نویسندگان
چکیده
A considerable body of data indicates that the plasma volume, as measured by dye dilution methods, is generally increased in congestive heart failure (1-4). However, recent investigations, utilizing p82 (5, 6) or Cr51 (7) tagged red cells, indicate that there is little or no increase in total blood volume, plasma volume, or red cell volume in most cases of heart failure. According to presently accepted concepts, the total body relative cell volume,

Precipitating factors of congestive heart failure in admitted patients of Fatemieh Hospital in Semnan, Iran
Introduction: Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) is a pathophysiologic state in which an abnormality of cardiac function is responsible for the failure of the heart to pump blood at a commensurate rate with the requirements of the metabolizing tissues and/or allows it to do so only from an abnormally elevated diastolic volume. In this study, the prevalence of precipitating factors of CHF in Semna...
متن کاملChanges in Blood Viscosity , Hematocrit Value , and Fibrinogen Concentration in Subjects with Congestive Heart Failure
THE increased incidence of thrombo-occlusive complications in subjects with congestive heart failure is clearly recognized. Thus, pulmonary, cerebral, and myocardial infarction, thrombophlebitis, and mesenteric thrombosis are sufficiently frequent complications to compel some to include anticoagulant therapy in the routine management of cardiac decompensation. The fundamental cause of this tend...
متن کاملChange in relationship of blood volume to weight in congestive heart failure.
Blood volume has been estimated in a small group of nonedematous hospitalized patients and in (arldiac patients in severe congestive failure by both Cr5'-labeled red cells and iodinated (P'31) human serum albumin. In the analysis of the data attention is directed to a fallacy inherent in the usual ratio method of relating blood volume to weight. An alternative method of analysis is proposed tha...
متن کاملPULMONARY VASCULAR MUSCLE PROLIFERATION AS A RESULT OF PROTEIN AND mRNA-eNOS ALTERATIONS IN A RAT MODEL OF CHF
Endothelial Nitric Oxide Synthase (eNOS) produces nitric oxide (NO) from L-arginine and is important for the maintenance of cardiovascular homeostasis. Congestive heart failure (CHF) generally results in increased pulmonary blood flow and if untreated leads to pulmonary hypertension and end stage heart failure. We therefore hypothesized that increased pulmonary flow without changes in pres...
